Two of our parents, Heather Adam and Charmaine van Schaik, representing the HP (High Performance) athletes and families, participated in a special community challenge as part of the PanAm Torch Relay Celebration in Newmarket last evening. As a non-profit member of the Newmarket Charitable Gaming Association (through our partner, Bingo World), Jill Weston completed the application process and RHCC was chosen to be one of 3 charities to participate in the “All for Community” Challenge hosted by the OLG (Ontario Lottery & Gaming Association) with the chance to win $5,000 for their charity.
Heather and Charmaine competed against teams to identify the names and locations of the 40+ communities participating in the PanAm Torch Relay in just 2 ½ minutes .
RHCC did not win the challenge, but did receive $2,500 as a runner-up team!
Many thanks to Heather and Charmaine for taking on this challenge on behalf of the HP group at RHCC and bringing home a significant cash donation to the club.
