Bingo Fundraising Information

Location:
Bingo World Newmarket
1230 Kerrisdale Blvd
NEWMARKET, ONTARIO
OFFICE: (905) 836-4861

The Bingo Calendar year starts on April 1st each year.

On our website is a Bingo schedule where and you can see which times and dates are available for volunteering. Once you have decided which dates you would like, please email Joanne Bryant jbryant@canwest.com with your information.

Each paddler, or their guardian if under the age of 18, is responsible for performing the designated number of bingo commitments as stipulated by the Board of Directors. The dates must be arranged in advance as part of the RHCC registration process and before paddlers will be allowed to attend their first practice each year.

At the time of registration, a cheque in the amount of $100.00 must be provided for each bingo you are required to work. For example, if you are required to work 3 bingos, you must prepare 3 separate cheques for $100.00 each, each dated July 1st and each payable to the Richmond Hill Canoe Club. If the pre-arranged bingo date is not completed, the cheque will be cashed immediately.

The paddler/guardian is responsible for arriving at the hall 1.5 hours before the scheduled start time. You will be notified in advance of the bingo and the exact time of arrival.

Once you have committed to a date for bingo, it is imperative that you show up on time in order to help with the pre-game preparations. Under the terms of our bingo license, we are required to have three members at each bingo session. Failure to comply will result in the loss of our bingo license and the subsequent loss of an important source of revenue, which in turn would affect our registration fees.

Required amount of Bingo’s

High Performance - 3 Bingos per year
Advanced - 3 Bingos per year
Racing Development - 2 Bingo’s per year
Master’s - 1 Bingo per year

** Please note if there is more than 1 paddler in a family, the max number of bingoes is 4 per year**

Designated Bingo Members

Every year we are looking for new designated members (DM). A DM is the volunteer in charge of the bingo session who must be familiar with the paperwork and duties of the volunteers.

The RHCC board has agreed to offer DM’s a 10% discount on their family membership fees to a maximum of $400.

A DM must commit to working a minimum of four bingos per year plus 1 training session (if new). If you are interested in becoming a DM please contact Joanne Bryant.

Bingo halls have been facing increased competition from Casinos. Therefore a number of halls have closed down recently. Fortunately Bingo World Newmarket is still poised to continue its operation as RHCC is heavily dependent on the revenue we earn through this Bingo Hall: it currently represents almost 20% of our total revenue. Without this bingo revenue, we would most likely need to double our registration fees to continue our existing programs. Therefore it is critical as members of this club that we meet our obligation to consistently provide volunteers to work.

To help you remember the dates, the Bingo coordinator will send you a friendly reminder email of your Bingo commitment. If for some reason you are not able to attend, you must find a replacement person to do your shift. The schedule on our website will also be kept up to date for quick reference.

Thank-you for your support.
