Kids Summer Programs

2016 Summer Canoe Kids

 

Canoe Kids is a developmental program aimed at kids aged 7-12years.

Participants will be introduced to the sport of canoe/kayak by learning basic skills and fundamental movements in a safe, fun and dynamic learning environment.

 

Schedule:        M, W 5:30-7pm

Dates:              July 4&6, 11&13, 18&20, 25&27, Aug 1&3, 8&10, 15&17, 22&24

Location:         RHCC Boathouse, Lake Wilcox

Coach:             Accredited  CKC instructors

Cost:                $60/week*

Participants:    Ages 7-12, Minimum=4, Maximum=20, Minimum Swim Requirement= Completed Red Cross Swim Kids 6 (or equivalent)


*the weekly rate is discounted to $50 for siblings registering in concurrent weeks and for participants who register for 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 week blocks.


 

 2016 Summer C4 & War Canoe for Teens

 

The C4 and War Canoe program is a recreational program aimed at teens aged 12+.

Participants will be introduced to canoe fundamentals and will enjoy working in small groups, developing teamwork & communication skills. Participants will be given the opportunity to compete in selected local & divisional regattas if desired.

 

Schedule:        M, W 5:30-7pm

Dates:              July 4&6, 11&13, 18&20, 25&27, Aug 1&3, 8&10, 15&17, 22&24

Location:         RHCC Boathouse, Lake Wilcox

Coach:             Accredited CKC instructors

Cost:                $60/week*

Participants:    Ages 12+, Minimum=4, Maximum=15, Minimum Swim Requirement= Completed Red Cross Swim Kids 6 (or equivalent)

 Please note that Canoe Kids and C4/War Canoe may be combined for some classes, based on enrolment levels and the experience and age of participants.  Basic strokes and balance in a smaller boat (kayak, canoe)  will be taught before progressing to team boats such as C4 (4 in a larger canoe).

How to Register

Below you will see links to the forms required to register for each program. Please print the form for the program you wish to register for, plus the Release of Liability form, and complete in full. Once the forms are complete send them by mail to the 'Richmond Hill Canoe Club' (address below), or deliver them in person to the club house (after June 1st), along with your cheque or money order payable to the 'Richmond Hill Canoe Club'.  There is a green mailbox for registrations, on the wall, just inside the door.
