Paddling for Former Competitive RHCC Athletes Age 18+

Aim/Goal:

Allow former competitive RHCC paddlers to participate in paddling recreationally to encourage lifetime involvement in the sport of canoe/kayak.  No coaching or competitions are included in this program.

Target Participants:

Former competitive RHCC paddlers who meet the skill level required by the Head Coach to paddle independently.  If required, the Head Coach will assess the skill level of the proposed participant prior to their registration in the program.

When:

Four month program, may only paddle when the Head Coach is on the water with the current RHCC HP training group. The reason for this is safety: in the unlikely event that the coach and safety boat had to attend to the Former Competitive Paddlers group, the HP group are the most independent and most able to cope with this situation.

Equipment:

RHCC boats as assigned by the Head Coach.  On days when there is a conflict with a current competitive youth paddler, the current competitive youth paddler has precedence over the equipment as determined by the Head Coach.

*Note: there is a limit to the number of participants in this program based on the limited availability of club boats, as determined by the Head Coach.

Cost:

$100 / calendar month to a maximum of $365 per summer season

A volunteer commitment of 1 hour per calendar month.
