Racing Development

The Racing Development training group is designed for youth between the ages of 9 and 15 years old. All children are welcome, as the program is for both experienced and inexperienced paddlers and introduces children to the sport of sprint canoeing and kayaking.  Participants will learn to paddle canoes and kayaks: singles (K1, C1), doubles (K2, C2), fours (K4, C4), and War Canoe (C15).  All new youth paddlers begin in this group.

Although there are several age categories within this program (U11, U13, U15), all of the athletes train together in a group environment.  This group is led by one of our Assistant Coaches during the on-water paddling season.

All athletes have the opportunity to compete in several local regattas. The U11 & U13 season culminates in the Western Ontario Division (WOD) U11/U13 Championships, while U13 and U15 paddlers have the opportunity to race at the main WOD Championships and Provincial Championships (qualification necessary).
