Volunteering at RHCC

Volunteering at RHCC helps our club in many ways, and we couldn’t run our club without the help of everyone. There are many ways to help out at RHCC:

Regatta's - Driving the truck and trailer to regattas as required if Head Coach is not able to. Representing RHCC as a volunteer at a regatta: boat driver, spotter, assistant starter, awards etc.

Admin Duties - These are duties are ongoing throughout the year: looking after the lost and found, replenishing water and freezies during the summer, planning BBQ at WOD and year-end BBQ, helping to prepare grant applications for the Club, etc.

Board Member - Every year in the fall (October) we vote on the new Board Members. Watch for an email in early September about the AGM and learn about becoming a Board Member.

Web - Master - This person would have a great knowledge of computers and be able to keep our Website new, exciting and up-to-date.

Bingo Coordinator - This volunteer is responsible for looking after our Bingo program with the Bingo hall. He/she co-ordinates our volunteers to ensure we are fully staffed at each session that we are responsible for.

Fundraising - This person(s) would lead our fundraising opportunities within the community and work with our club members to achieve those goals.

Open House - Volunteering during our Open House to help gain new members.

Dock Day - This is the day when we launch the docks (usually end of March) and the day when we bring the docks in for the summer (usually sometime in late October depending on the weather.)

Bingo - Each paddler is required to volunteer at Bingo as part of their registration package. If you are able to volunteer more this would be a great help. You must be over the age of 18 to do so. Please see our information under Bingo on our website.

Summer Camp - Each summer at summer camp, we can use many volunteers. The following requirements must be met:

  • You must be at least 14 years of age and entering Grade 9 in the fall
  • You must submit a written request to volunteer and you will be scheduled to help out on specific days when help is needed. This request must be sent to the Head Summer Camp Counselor. Once it has been approved, you will be given your schedule.
  • You must work directly under the supervision of one of our Camp Coaches or Head Coach. You are never to resume the role of a coach. You are never to be in charge of a group on your own.
  • You are never to be left alone supervising children as this is the coach’s responsibility.
  • You will only be allowed to volunteer for hours if you are actually helping and working. (hanging out does not count)
  • You are only allowed to stay and help out if it has been pre-approved and pre-arranged.
  • The document that you need signed for your volunteer hours must be completed at the end of each shift so that there is no confusion for the amount of hours spent volunteering.
  • You are expected to respectful to all club members and summer campers at all times.
  • You must read and obey the RHCC code of conduct found on our website. Non-compliance may result in being asked to leave.
